A NOTE FROM OUR SELLERS:

DearProspective Buyer,

This home has been a special place for us for the past 7+ years. We have put a lot of work and love into it. Just before sitting to write this note, we spent the afternoon in the backyard with our neighbors reminiscing… Here are a few things we recounted:

This house is part of a wonderful community. In the units behind us you have two sets of young, considerate and friendly folks. We’ve spent time in the garden barbequing and enjoying the warm Mission Dolores weather. The co-owners – Mark, Matt and Jennifer – are responsible and wonderful people with whom we consider ourselves
lucky to have co-owned a TIC. You hear so many stories to the contrary. We all started as strangers and now consider each other friends. There are many other neighbors on the block that we have gotten to know and who keep an eye out for each other, which makes this neighborhood feel warm, friendly and even safer than your average urban city block. When you’re in the front yard working on the tree plants or sweeping the street, people stop and thank you for adding beauty to the neighborhood.

We can’t say enough about the location, location, location! Where to begin? You are within a few steps of a culinary mecca. We go to Mission Beach Café almost every morning (the others are spent at Four Barrel Coffee) where the coffee and pastries are to die for and you feel a real sense of welcome when you’re greeted by name. The walkability of healthy grocery shopping is also key. Within four blocks you have: Rainbow Grocery, Golden Produce (a small private organic grocer by Safeway) and Bi-Rite.  Whole Foods is supposed to be going in a block and a half away. The list of restaurants we’ve enjoyed is too long to write, but Chow, Delfina, Loconda …the list really goes on and on.

This neighborhood if vibrant and full of activities; Dolores Park gives us sun, tennis, music, movies and there’s a nice little farmers market a few blocks up in the Castro on Wednesday evenings during Summer. Enjoy ‘Sunday Streets’ on Valencia and the Carnival as well.  The access to BART and Muni has made the entire city easily accessible and I’m afraid we’ve been spoiled.

And here’s a note from the Seller…

Living here has provided a great balance! It has incredibly convenient access to all the great things nearby, but also a wonderful place to host my friends for dinner parties and quiet evenings at home. I’ve taken advantage of the location near so many great restaurants and bars to easily lure friends over this way for a night out, and savored the convenience of my getting home at the end of the night. It’s been fabulous to walk up to Tartine to get treats for a friend’s brunch; to indulge in the fantastic food and service at Delfina; or knowing that I could skip the crazy line at the Bi-Rite Creamery by getting a pint in the Bi-Rite store when I headed to hang out in Dolores Park with friends on a sunny weekend.

Remodeling my unit created a beautiful home for cooking up meals with things bought from local farmer’s markets, a cozy place to watch a movie by the fire, or simply appreciate the beauty of the view – especially during the fireworks on the 4th of July or clear days when you can see over the neighboring buildings to the East Bay hills, Potrero, and Bernal Park.

This neighborhood and Dolores Plaza has been such treat to live in.  I was incredibly lucky to have fantastic neighbors.  We’d get together for wine and I loved when they’d enthusiastically stop by & mix with my other friends when I hosted events catering to neighborhood activities like the Dolores Park movie nights or the Sister of Perpetual Indulgence’s Easter craziness.

The location was convenient when I worked downtown via Bart and on the Peninsula with the quick access to 101.  And, it was a joy to come home & always know that I had a parking space waiting for me when I came back from socializing or even just a long day at work. I will dearly miss all the perks this home has offered and hope that it provides as much happiness to the next resident. And, did you see the bedroom closet… I can still remember day dreaming about it when I was buying the unit!

Mission Dolores San Francisco – Yes, there is an actual Mission here.

Mission Dolores - 16th Street at Dolores Street

Mission Dolores - 16th Street at Dolores Street

Mission Dolores San Francisco is one of twenty-one Spanish Missions, located along California’s El Camino Real, aka. The Royal Highway. If you were reared in Cali, no doubt, you studied (and forgot?) this California history in grammar school. (We didn’t have New Jersey history when I was in elementary school and then, I missed Texas history by a year when we moved to Texas. No, “Remember the Alamo!” for me. Good thing, Texans tend to throw their history in whenever possible so I was able to absorb quite a bit of Lone Star pride, especially in retrospect. Wait, did I go off-topic? Sorry.)

Let’s take a quick jaunt down memory lane and explore the history of Mission Dolores, whose epicenter is 16th Street at Dolores Street. Courtesy of Stephanie Wright Hession and SFGate.com.

“Mission Dolores, 16th Street, S.F.: In the Mission District, an ornate basilica stands next to a simple, white adobe church at Misión San Francisco de Asís, better known as Mission Dolores. The mission was founded in 1776 by Father Francisco Palou and built by Ohlone Indians. A self-guided tour leads visitors to the elaborate altar of the church sanctuary, the stained-glass windows of the basilica, a cemetery and more.”
